Protest is a healthy part of an active civic society. It’s your right to protest! Protests can be emotional, powerful, and transformational—they’re a way to connect with community, express care and outrage, and demand change.

Mutual aid is a community’s collective effort to support one another and meet each other’s material needs, driven by an understanding that existing systems often fall short. It is not charity—it’s a practice of shared responsibility and deep care.

The need for global solidarity is especially true for trans, queer, and gender-nonconforming communities. We are committed to freedom and self-determination—and LGBTQI+ communities exist around the world.

From the Stonewall Riots of 1969, led by Black and Latine/x trans and queer individuals, to more recent efforts such as Transgender Rights, and safe spaces in schools, TQ2S+ youth have continuously demonstrated resilience and leadership in the face of adversity. These movements in turn, highlight the power of collective action in advancing social progress and inspire the creation of this toolkit.

A key step in the campaign process is developing and implementing tactics. When creating tactics it is important to think about the actions we can take with our power as everyday people to push the system to give us what we want. Think about what can be done to pressure those in power to meet your demands.
